

Daffodils Starting to Show in Mondo Grass
February 28, 2021 I plant a lot of daffodils in ground covers. I try to minimize having to pull weeds and the ground covers help so much with that! People ask me a lot about what to do about the dying down, daffodil leaves in their gardens after the blooms are over. Since the leaves are needed until they are no longer green and are done feeding next year's blooms, they do need to stay for a bit. From the Field to the Studio
February 25, 2021 I decided this year to donate a piece of art work to the ADS 2021 Spring Auction instead of bulbs. This particular daffodil is one of my favorites, "British Gamble". The freshness of watercolor makes me feel that Spring is just around the corner.


Dry Stone Wall Rebuilt Today on a Warm February Day
February 23, 2021 - I spent a lovely afternoon on a warm and sunny February day reworking our dry stone wall made of stones brought back from some of our travels. You may not know that there are no rocks on the Eastern Shore, so these are all "imported" by us from various locations, and who doesn't love a stone wall, even a small section of one? - Even if you are not in New England and have to bring your own rocks.

Wintery Feb morning around the Daffodil field. 5:30 comes fast and someone has to wake the chickens up and open the door for them to start their day. They like the heat lamp and a lot of the time they wait until the sun comes up before venturing outside.
